Additional Drainage Route in PEAK LVV Gives Surgeons Optimal Drainage During Cardiopulmonary Bypass
During cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), it is important to avoid left ventricular (LV) filling and distention. LV distention can increase in LV end-diastolic pressure, which can decrease coronary perfusion pressures and compromise subendocardial oxygen delivery.[1] Minimizing LV wall tension can be accomplished using a vent to drain blood returning to the left ventricle.1
The PEAK Left Heart Vent from Surge Cardiovascular offers the only tapered, open tip which provides additional routes for drainage. The design features 24-elliptical holes spanning 8.5cm to allow for efficient decompression of the left ventricle well into the apex.
In addition, the malleable, polymer over-molded stylet allows surgeons to confidently place and maintain cannula position in the LV. Many surgeons prefer an introducer that can be manipulated to conform to each specific patient, and the PEAK’s malleable stylet holds its shape while allowing the surgeon to access the precise point of entry and direction.
